Reliant Energy, a provider of energy services, has signed an electricity supply agreement with Comcast to provide nearly 8MW of peak power to more than 10,000 metered locations on its network throughout the Greater Houston area in the US.

The Reliant, in addition to supplying power to Comcast facilities, the two companies work together to make moving easier for residential customers by helping them connect electricity, phone, TV and internet services with a single phone call.

The working agreement was started in December 2010, which enables both companies to seamlessly route customers from one provider and offers discounts on those services.

Comcast Houston vice president of finance and accounting Darren Rish said, "Reliant offered a great price plus enhanced billing features that give us the insight we need to effectively manage our energy use."

Reliant senior vice president, business segments David Brast said, "Providing Comcast with the information it needs to analyze and monitor its network is just one of many ways we add value beyond electricity for our large commercial clients."
