The Low-Down On Getting The #1 Google Position

If you haven?t already put your article submission on autopilot, it can only be for one of three reasons:

1. You simply already have enough free traffic to your website,

2. You have not read my previous articles, or

3. You still haven?t been able to realize the power and incredible value of this system. that is, how this will dramatically boost your sales.

If you fall into the first category, then please move on to the next article, this one just doesn?t apply to you.

Otherwise, please take a minute to read this article thoroughly, as it really could mean the difference between success and failure for your Internet business this year. You see, people love to make things complicated, but making money online is actually quite simple. It does not matter whether you are selling your own product, promoting affiliate links, or making money from Adsense or ?click flipping?, it all boils down to just two things:

Conversion and Traffic.

Conversion comes first. You need to have an offer that people want. That ?offer? might be a product, or it might be an enticing advert (e.g. Google Adsense) that people want to click on. And you need some kind of presentation (such as a sales letter) that encourages them to take the action that you want them to take (eg buy the product or click on the advert).

In many ways this is the easiest part. Most people can put together a half decent website or sales letter that will make at least some money from their visitors.

But then you need Traffic. Loads of it. The more people that come by your site, the more money you will make ? especially if that traffic is highly targeted. But, given the number of websites out there ? all competing for the same traffic, just how do you get more visitors to your site?

Well, there are just three ways that visitors come to your site:

1. People type your URL straight into their browser. That comes from some sort of offline promotion ? it might be your business card, a radio advert, an article in a magazine or a conversation with a friend.

2. People click on a link. It may be in an email they received (eg from a friend or from an ezine they subscribed to) or it may be on another website they have visited.

3. Or they search in a search engine like Google, see your website in the listings, and then click on the hyperlink to go to your website.

And that is it, period. There are no other ways for them to get to your website.

So, knowing that, how do you get more traffic? Simple:

1. Promote your Internet presence in all your offline promotional materials.

2. Get lots of people to link to you, and lots of people to send out emails with your link in it.

3. Get a top position in the search engines.

Yes.., sounds simple doesn?t it, but maybe it is not so easy in practice? Just how do you achieve steps 2 and 3 without spending bucketsful of cash or getting your site banned by the search engines?

To understand this, we need to think about how the search engines work. Again, it is much simpler than people say.

Search engines want lots of people to use them. To achieve that, they strive to deliver relevant and up-to-date content to people who do a search through them. But how do they determine what is relevant to your search?

There are only two ways that they can achieve that:

1. They scan your website and, using very sophisticated algorithms, they work out what the subject matter of your website is. The also look at how new or old it is, how recently it has been updated and so on. These are all known as on-page or on-site factors. You have direct control over many of these factors when you set up your site.

2. They look at what other people say about your site. In doing this they look at two things: how many people link to your site (and what the link says) and also how important is the site that links to your site. An important ?authority? site that points to you is worth more than a whole bunch of unimportant sites. They also consider how recent the links that point to you are, and a number of other factors about the link and the context in which it is found.

At the same time, the search engines are constantly looking out for sites that try to fool them into thinking that they are more relevant or more popular than they really are. Which is why the so-called ?black-hat? techniques quickly lose their effectiveness.

So, to get to the top of the search engines you need to do two things:

1. You can optimize your on-page factors. There is plenty of information on the Internet and off it about how to do that. It is not difficult but, in itself, it is also not enough.

2. Get lots of high-quality, one-way, relevant links to your site from as many other ?important? sites as you can.

So, how do you get people to link to you?

1. Produce a fantastic site so that others just really want to tell others about your site.

2. Pay others to link to you ? buy a text link, or offer an affiliate program.

3. Swap links with other websites ? but reciprocal links are clearly not worth as much as one-way back-links and it is a lot of work to do this effectively anyway.

4. Provide them with fresh, unique content that adds value to their site in return for which they agree to post a link back to you. Loads of sites are constantly looking for fresh, unique content. They get this content by hunting through article directories, or by subscribing to article submission services.

So, if you send out articles to these directories, your articles will end up both on the directories themselves AND on the niche sites that pick up and use our articles. AND some of these sites are likely to be valuable ?authority?-type sites. Of course, whether it is taken up and by whom, depends on the quality of your article.

So, as you can see, this last method is the simplest and most powerful. It gives you hundreds or thousands of one way back-links, from relevant, niche sites, all for free. All you need is some way to get a different, unique, article to each of those directories and ezine publishers. Which is, of course, exactly what our software does.

But we don?t stop there. The real power behind this system comes when you use it regularly. Preferably once a week. Imagine getting 200 to 1800 new permanent one way links every week! By the end of a year, you could easily have 50,000 or more relevant, quality, one-way links to your site! And you can connect the submission process to a timer to put everything on autopilot!

That is the power of this system and that is why it beats every other traffic generation and SEO system there is.

So , there you have it, unless you haven?t got an online presence at all, isn?t it time you harnessed this power for your own business? Click on our link below right now to get the early-bird discount and get a fantastic bunch of bonuses:

NASA Studying Solar Powered "Space Tugboat"

Welcome to the 1970s? Solar panels + some kind of high ISP, extremely low thrust engine (used to be ion engines but apparently casamir effect thrusters are much better) have been planned ever since.

The problem is really simple. It's cheap to study a potential space travel mechanism on paper. But you cannot make any real progress unless real hardware is built and tested in space. And that costs a fortune, because a kilogram in space costs about $10,000 to get it there. Not to mention costs other than money, such as time and launch windows and delays and so forth.

SO...a rational person at NASA, if the organization was not at the mercy of Congress for every project, would dedicate ALL of their budget to getting that $10k/kilogram cost down to something affordable. Even if this took a large up-front investment to solve this problem.

Small Kitchen College: Sweet Dreamin': A Fruit Tart Fit for Valentine's Day

2012-01-31-fruittart.jpg

During the school year, I catch myself dreaming up various excuses to retreat from College Hill to the cutest little pastry shop in Providence, just a trolley ride away. The bakery is called Pastiche and they make the most amazing fruit tarts I have ever seen and tasted. Ever since tasting their fruit tart, I've been wanting to recreate it to share at a party (or on a Valentine's date!). Fruit tarts make a dazzling dessert that pleases everyone with its natural vibrant colors (nothing artificial here!) and perfect balance of flavors. Plus, you can trick dieters into thinking that they are eating something healthy. The beautiful fruit perfectly complements the creamy vanilla-infused pastry cream and flaky, buttery crust.

Based on my meticulous research, I've deduced a few tricks to making stunning fruit tarts:

1. Pick at least 3 colors of fruit. If you are not limited by the variety of fruit you can get your hands on, I strongly recommend getting at least 7 different types. I used strawberries, persimmon, mango, raspberries, blueberries, kiwi, and blackberries for the fruit tart pictured above.

2. Glaze the top with a clear jelly. This really gives the tart some shine and sparkle! Just a thin, even layer will suffice; too much jelly makes it look unappetizingly gloopy.

3. Timing is important. The pastry cream can be made up to 48 hours in advance, but don't fill the prebaked tart shell until 30 minutes or less before serving before serving. Once filled, the tart should be topped with fruit, glazed, and served within about 30 minutes (for best results).

4. Slice the fruit very very thin. About 1/8 inch is good; however, this can be very time consuming. If you don't have time, fret not! Another method is to use blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries, which you can simply arrange on the tart as they are. For a special touch, peel and slice a kiwi or two -- the green will help make the colors pop.

Fruit Tart
Makes one 9-inch fruit tart and two 4.5-inch fruit tarts

Ingredients
For the pate bris?e:
3 cups + 2 tbs (455g) all-purpose flour
1 1/2 tsp fine sea salt
1 cup + 5 tbs (300g) chilled butter, cut into small cubes

For the pastry cream:
1 1/2 cup whole milk + 1/2 cup cr?me fraiche (can substitute 2 cups half and half)
1/2 cup granulated sugar
pinch table salt
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla bean powder
5 large egg yolks, chalazae removed
3 tablespoons cornstarch
4 tablespoons unsalted butter (cold), cut into 4 pieces

For the fruit and glaze:
assorted fruit, sliced 1/8 inch thin (raspberries, strawberries, mangoes, kiwi, blueberries, blackberries, persimmon)
1/2 cup pineapple mango jelly (can use apple or apricot jelly)

To make the pate bris?e: Place the flour and salt in a big bowl. Add the butter. Using a pastry blender, cut the butter into the flour until you obtain a mixture resembling coarse sand. Pour 2/3 cup ice cold water over the crumbly mixture. Stir and toss with the help of a knife until the dough starts to come together. Continue mixing (very gently) until you obtain a ball of dough which is not completely smooth.

On a floured surface, divide pastry in two, shape into a 1 inch thick disk and wrap in plastic film. Put in the fridge and let rest for about 2 hours or overnight. Roll out one of the disks on a lightly floured surface to 1/8 inch thickness and from the center toward the edge in all directions, without forgetting to lift and rotate the pastry a quarter turn every now and then. Once your pastry is a circle 1 1/2 inches larger than the tart pan, carefully transfer it to the buttered pan (folding in half, if necessary). Ease it into the bottom and sides of the pan and pressing into place. Trim the edge with a knife. Prick the bottom of the pastry with a fork, line with baking paper and fill with pie weights or dry beans. Preheat the oven to 375? F. Bake blind until the surface of the dough looks dry and has no opaque areas left, about 20 minutes. Remove from the oven and remove the paper as well as the weights/beans, then return the shell to the oven for an extra 2-5 minutes (if the center starts to rise, gently pierce with a knife. Let cool completely on a wire rack before filling.

For the pastry cream: Heat the whole milk and cr?me fraiche or half-and-half, 6 tablespoons sugar, salt and vanilla bean powder in medium heavy-bottomed saucepan over medium heat until simmering, stirring occasionally to dissolve sugar.

Meanwhile, whisk the egg yolks in a medium bowl until they are thoroughly combined. Whisk in the remaining 2 tablespoons sugar until the sugar has begun to dissolve and the mixture is creamy, about 15 seconds. Whisk in the cornstarch until combined and the mixture is pale yellow and thick, about 30 seconds.

When the milk mixture reaches a full simmer, gradually whisk the simmering milk into the yolk mixture to temper. Return the mixture to the saucepan, scraping the bowl with a rubber spatula to make sure every bit makes it into the saucepan. Return the mixture to a simmer over medium heat, whisking constantly (this is important, don't stop stirring!), until 3 or 4 bubbles burst on surface and the mixture is thickened and glossy, about 30 seconds to one minute.

Off the heat, whisk in the butter. Transfer the mixture to medium bowl, press plastic wrap directly on the surface, and refrigerate until the pastry cream is cold and set, at least 3 hours or up to 48 hours.

To assemble and glaze the tart: When the tart shell is completely cool, spread cold pastry cream over the bottom, using an offset spatula or large spoon. At this point, you can press plastic wrap directly on the surface of the pastry cream and refrigerate the filled shell for up to 30 minutes. Arrange the fruit on top of pastry cream from outside to inside. Bring the jelly to a boil in a microwave safe cup in the microwave. When boiling and completely melted, apply the jelly to the tart by dabbing and flicking it onto the fruit with a pastry brush; add 1 teaspoon water and return the jelly to a boil if it becomes too thick to drizzle. (The tart can be refrigerated, uncovered, up to 30 minutes.)

Syrian troops push back in fight on Damascus edges (AP)

BEIRUT ? Syrian forces pushed dissident troops back from the edge of Damascus in heavy fighting Monday, escalating efforts to take back control of the capital's eastern doorstep ahead of key U.N. talks over a draft resolution demanding that President Bashar Assad step aside.

Gunfire and the boom of shelling rang out in several suburbs on Damascus' outskirts that have come under the domination of anti-regime fighters. Gunmen ? apparently army defectors ? were shown firing back in amateur videos posted online by activists. In one video, a government tank on the snow-dusted mountain plateau towering over the capital fired at one of the suburbs below.

As the bloodshed increased, with activists reporting more than 40 civilians killed Monday, Western and Arab countries stepped up pressure on Assad's ally Russia to overcome its opposition to the resolution.

U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton and the British and French foreign ministers were heading to New York to push for backing of the measure during talks Tuesday at the United Nations.

"The status quo is unsustainable," Clinton said, saying the Assad regime was preventing a peaceful transition and warning that the resulting instability could "spill over throughout the region."

The draft resolution demands that Assad halt the crackdown and implement an Arab peace plan that calls for him to hand over power to his vice president and allow creation of a unity government to pave the way for elections.

If Assad fails to comply within 15 days, the council would consider "further measures," a reference to a possible move to impose economic or other sanctions.

British Prime Minister David Cameron called the situation in Syria "appalling" and appealed Monday to Russia to back the U.N. Security Council resolution.

"It is time for all the members of U.N. Security Council to live up to their responsibilities instead of shielding those who have blood on their hands," Cameron said.

Moscow, which in October vetoed the first council attempt to condemn Syria's crackdown, has shown little sign of budging in its opposition. It warns that the new measure could open the door to eventual military intervention, the way an Arab-backed U.N. resolution led to NATO airstrikes in Libya.

A French official said the draft U.N. resolution has a "comfortable majority" of support from 10 of the Security Council's 15 members, meaning Russia or China would have to use its veto power to stop it. The official said Russia had agreed to negotiate on the draft, but it was not yet clear if it would be willing to back it if changes were made.

The official spoke on condition of anonymity in accordance with department rules.

The Kremlin said Monday it was trying to put together negotiations in Moscow between Damascus and the opposition. It said Assad's government has agreed to participate; the opposition has in the past rejected any negotiations unless violence stops.

Western countries cited the past week's escalation in fighting to pressure Moscow.

"Russia can no longer explain blocking the U.N. and providing cover for the regime's brutal repression," a spokeswoman for British Prime Minister David Cameron said, on customary condition of anonymity in line with policy.

The United Nations estimated several weeks ago that more than 5,400 people have been killed in Syria's crackdown on the uprising against Assad's rule, which began in March. It has been unable to update the figure, and more than 200 people have been killed in the past five days alone, according to activists' reports.

Pro-Assad forces have fought for three days to take back a string of suburbs on the eastern approach to Damascus, mostly poorer, Sunni-majority communities. In past weeks, army defectors ? masked men in military attire wielding assault rifles ? set up checkpoints in the communities, defending protesters and virtually seizing control.

Late Sunday, government troops retook two of the districts closest to Damascus, Ein Tarma and Kfar Batna, said Rami Abdul-Rahman, the London-based head of the Syrian Human Rights Observatory, which tracks violence through contacts on the ground.

On Monday, the regime forces were trying to retake the next suburbs out, pounding neighborhoods with shelling and heavy machine guns in the districts of Saqba, Arbeen and Hamouriya, he said.

At least five civilians were killed in the fighting near Damascus, according to the Observatory and another activist group, the Local Coordination Committees.

Regime forces also heavily shelled buildings and battled dissidents in the central city of Homs, one of the main hot spots of the uprising, activists said.

The Observatory reported 28 killed in the city Monday. The Local Coordination Committees put the number at 27.

The reports could not be independently confirmed. Syrian authorities keep tight control on the media and have banned many foreign journalists from entering the country.

The Syrian Interior Ministry, in charge of security forces, said Monday that its three-day operation in the suburbs aimed to track down "terrorist groups" that have "committed atrocities" and vowed to continue until they were wiped out. Damascus had remained relatively quiet while most other Syrian cities have slipped into chaos since the uprising began.

Regime forces, backed by tanks and armored vehicles, heavily outgun and outnumber the defectors, organized into a force known as the Free Syrian Army. However, the military can't cover everywhere at once, and when it puts down the dissidents in one location, they arise in another. The dissidents' true numbers are unknown.

The result has been a dramatic militarization of a crisis that began with peaceful protests demanding the ouster of the Assad family and its regime. The army defectors began by protecting protesters, but over the weeks they have gone more on the offensive.

The dissidents have seemed increasingly confident in hit-and-run attacks.

On Monday, they freed five imprisoned comrades in an assault on a military base in the northeastern province of Idlib, the Observatory and Local Coordination Committees reported. Other defectors attacked a large military checkpoint outside Hama, destroying several transport trucks and claiming to kill a number of troops, the two groups said.

Six government soldiers were killed in an ambush on their vehicles in the southern region of Daraa, the state news agency SANA reported. The Observatory reported two other soldiers and 10 defectors killed in fighting elsewhere.

Attackers also blew up a gas pipeline near the border with Lebanon, SANA reported, the latest in numerous attacks on Syria's oil and gas infrastructure.

Because of the upsurge in violence, the Arab League halted a month-old observer mission, which had already come under heavy criticism for failing to stop the crackdown. The League turned to the U.N. Security Council to throw its weight behind its peace plan, which Damascus has rejected.

The move resembles the turn of events before last year's NATO air campaign in Libya, when Western countries waited for Arab League support before winning U.N. cover for intervention.

But so far, there has been little appetite for a similar campaign in Syria. There is no clear-cut geographical divide between the regime and its opponents as there was in Libya, and the opposition is even more divided and unknown than it was in the North African nation. Syria is intertwined in alliances with Iran, Hezbollah and Palestinian militant groups, and borders Israel ? making the fallout from military action more unpredictable.
